Beauty products SJP can't live without!

The beauty products she can't live without:
Moisturizer (which she carries with her), "any kind" of lip balm, and mascara are her top three. "I love mascara and I'm on an endless search for the right one," she said. "I would like it all — length and volume — with the exact right brush. Every time I find one they discontinue it. How does that help a business?"

Her beauty indulgences:
"Every now and then, there is this place called Angel Feet [I go to] that's amazing. It's a reflexology place. I don't know about any of that — that doesn't really matter me. The fact is that someone will rub your feet for an hour. I don't care what they find out about my insides, or different organs. That goes in one ear and out the other. The fact of the matter is that they will rub your feet for an hour. You just have to find the hour. It's not inexpensive, and it's not highway robbery. It's right in the middle there. It's worth every penny, I will say!"

The FAQs of Airbrush Makeup:

The airbrushing technique is wonderful. It is one of Hollywood's beauty secrets. Silicone based makeup is applied to the skin with an airbrush for a long-lasting, feather light, flawless finish. You can get as much or as little coverage as you like without feeling like you are wearing a mask. In short, it's amazing. When you look in the mirror you will see the most flawless glowing version of yourself staring back at you. The makeup itself is water and transfer resistant, so no need to worry about endless touch ups or your face rubbing off on your guests. Since the formula was designed for use in movies and photo shoots, it will photograph wonderfully.  Proof is in the pudding!  Check out this gorgeous untouched extreme close up of our model Cailey:

Airbrushing FAQ:

Q: What is Airbrush Makeup?
A: Airbrush makeup is a liquid form silicone based makeup which is used with an airbrush gun to disburse a light mist evenly on the face.  A very popular technique that is used by many celebrities to get a light, natural, long-wearing coverage.

Q: Who should get airbrushed?
A: Anyone who isn't allergic to silicone!  Airbrushing is also great for oily and problem skin.  It sits on top of the skin to create the look of perfect skin.  Even in High Def, skin looks naturally flawless.  And in HD, everything shows up!

Q: Which line do you use?
A: At DBJ we use Temptu Pro.  After doing plenty of research on different lines, great along with the so-so, Temptu Pro was our choice.  Make sure your artist is trained.  Airbrushing is an art which should be done by trained pros.  There are many DIY lines, including a line from Temptu, but they aren't going to be a the pro level of quality.

Q: What does it feel like?
A:  You'll feel a light amount of air blowing on your skin.  The makeup is very light weight so you really won't feel like you are wearing any makeup at all!  Perfect for those who hate the way makeup feels or those who don't wear it often.  Leaves your skin with a natural and soft look.  The session overall is very relaxing & spa like.

Q: Will is rub off?
A:  It's transferred resistant, which means it stays put!  You won't find makeup on your clothes, or on anyone else.  Great for brides who will hug tons of guests and who don't want to see their makeup on their husbands tux.  Airbrush could be called "Groom Approved"!  It won't "slide" off of oily skin either.

Q: How long will it last?
A: We say 10-12 hrs.  BUT my personal answer is, it will last until you wash it off!  It's humidity, sweat, & transfer resistant.  The only touch up you'll need is lip gloss.

Parisian Love...

"More Than a Makeup Artist" from Key to Savannah.com

From the wedding blog edition from Key to Savannah.  I was asked to be a guest blogger for this series.  Here's what I had to say:

Savannah is a magical place full of history, beauty, and romance. It’s no surprise to me that ninety percent of my business is destination weddings. I quickly relocated from Central Florida within a week of my first visit, almost 3 years ago. Savannah wedding vendors are a special breed, since we all have the same goal for the bride—a dream experience come true.

I have had the honor of being a part of many weddings here in Savannah. I cherish so many wonderful stories, couples, and memories from each one. Every vendor has their own special role on the big day. My role is small, but mighty. I usually don’t get to see the actual wedding, or the first dance, but I do get to spend one on one time with the bride. On the wedding day, this time is very limited, but very precious. She sits in my director’s chair and is finally able to be calm and just relax. That is her sole responsibility for the next couple of hours while I pamper her. What a wonderful responsibility on such a stressful day! I’m not only her makeup artist; I’m there to give her the full beauty experience. My job is much more than makeup. My goal is to make her feel amazing, light-hearted, and beautiful.

She may not be nervous about marrying the man of her dreams, but she may be nervous about being the center of attention, or even tripping down the aisle. Since her beauty team, or “glam squad”, are usually the last few vendors she sees before “go time”, we try our very best to make her feel so amazing she could just float down the aisle! I’m lucky enough to have a wonderful partner in beauty, Tiffony Simpson of Ony Salon, who is not only a top professional stylist, but also one of my best friends. Since we are so close, this sets a comfortable tone and fun energy for the entire bridal party. We quickly ease pre-wedding jitters with jokes, hugs, and two big smiles! It often feels like a girl’s only party, which is more fun than you know!

Beyond the experience, I offer my clients exceptional, quality makeup artistry. Covering up blemishes and dark circles is only part of my mission! For weddings, most photos and videos are shot in high definition. This means every imperfection will show up! Being a professionally trained artist, I understand lighting and photography techniques as well as tricks of the trade. Flawless skin, makeup that lasts all day, and a picture perfect look is exactly what I provide my brides. Photography and videography are such important investments that last for many years, so I make sure all of my brides look their very best.
And maybe, when they look back at how beautiful they were, they’ll think of me. That is the best part of my job! There’s a special bond that is formed when you are a living your dream by being a part of someone else’s. I’m extremely proud to be counted among Savannah’s finest!

Lip Stain Tricks!

I love the look of a lip stain.  There are soo many different lines that offer great ones.  But if you rather not spend $8-$30+ on one, here are two quick & inexpensive tricks to try out.

1. Apply a dark red/berry lipstick that is very rich in color right before you do your makeup.  After you finish your makeup, remove w/ a tissue.  Voila- instant lip stain.  Add clear gloss if you like, or keep it matte.

2. Use red (cheery or strawberry) Jell-O or Kool-Aid.  Use a Q-tip or lip brush to keep from staining your fingertip.  Mix a little bit of the powder w/ a drop or two of water & apply!  Once again, Voila- instant lip stain!

You can mix the powders with Vaseline, Vitamin E, or Smith's Rosebud Salve for a great stain/gloss combo.  Keeping the stain mainly on the inner part of your lip will recreate the look of wine stained lips which was huge during NY Fashion Week.

Rather buy a lip stain?  Check out the top editor's picks here from ShopStyle.  Don't forget to drop a comment about this trick after you tried it!  Feedback is always appreciated!

I'm wearing Avon's glazewear liquid lip color in Crimson today.  A soft berry color with a sweet smell.  It's less than $3!  This is one of my favorite lip lines to use! Ps-Brides love Iced Pink.

Orange is the new red!

It was all over the runway during NYC Fashion Week! Orange lips are the new red. Apply the color on your cheeks & pair with brown toned shadows.  Artists used M-A-C's Lady Danger lipstick & Cremeblend blush in Optimistic Orange, a creamy orange blush along the cheek bone.  Play it up for a bold blood orange look or go softer for a pop of unexpected color!

Riveting! Rock steady new collection from M-A-C

Rock Goddesses are never afraid to strut their stuff and step up to the spotlight. This is a rock-steady metal collection that pays homage to their strength and power! A fashion trend, true, but oh-so-much more is what makes these girls Riveting.
My favorite item from the collection:

Riveting: Penultimate eye liner from M-A-C
A liquid pen-style liner that provides the ultimate precise, bold line in a rich, deep carbon black shade. Goes on fluidly, in one steady stroke, to style any fashion of eye line. Kinda like a sharpie just better!  Enjoy the rest of the collection!

Pass the Vitamin E please!

(sorry for the blurry pic)

Perfectly Pure Vitamin E stick : $1.50 @ Walmart in the pharmacy area w/ vitamins.

Appearance: The moisturizer/balm is in the tube exactly how most lipsticks are, you spin the bottom and it pops up. The balm itself looks pretty much like a glue stick.  In old lady packaging w/ gold lettering.

Glide: Absolute perfection. Smooth and thick. Thick enough to feel adequately coated, but not too thick that you need to wipe half of it off.

Use this everywhere! I keep multiples around me. I use it as a moisturizer, eye treatment, perfect for spot treatment of very dry areas, lip balm... it's just AWESOME!

On news stands now!

Setting Mineral Makeup

One question I hear often is: How can I set my mineral makeup so it won't look heavy or cakey?
Answer:  They key to setting mineral makeup is water.  Take a damp makeup sponge & dab lightly all over your face especially under the eyes.  This tip will help in setting your makeup in the most natural way.

Berry Beauty

Some suggest that eating berries can prevent premature aging. Cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries all contain antioxidants that are very beneficial to your skin. Regardless, we can all see benefits of a proper nutrition and a healthy diet.  Also, for added benefits try Crystal Light Skin Essentials in Pomegranate Lemonade mixed with electrolyte filled water (Smartwater).  In trying to break my need for Diet Coke, this has been key.  I love it!

Want Flawless Skin? Especially in Photos?

Here's your insider trick to the trade:

Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation.  The formula has silica micro beads and sericite mica, both of which reflect light to mask imperfections. Plus, it also contains Silicone Elastomer, a mattifying agent, to neutralize shine.  And under strong camera flashes, matte skin = perfect skin.  It's also oil free.  This is a photographer's dream foundation since perfect looking skin also equals less Photoshop time.  Also perfect for brides who need to be picture perfect in photos & on the wedding video.  The entire line is more than amazing!  You can pick this up at Sephora for $40.  An worthy investment!

Life Saver For Your Nails

I love nail polish. I love manis and pedis and, overall, I just love being pampered! (what girl doesn't?) What I do NOT love is spending the time to polish all my little piggies so meticulously and then inevitably ruining all the hard work because the polish takes FOREVER to dry. I know this has happened to you too, which brings me to my new favorite product and your manicure's new best friend.

Seche Vite is an amazing quick dry top coat that actually works. It penetrates all the layers of polish and dries like a dream. It's non yellowing, and leaves your nails stronger, more shiny, and resistant to chipping and peeling. This is not the oily "quick dry" product of your past, this stuff is like armor for your nails!

If your busy life doesn't allow hours of drying time for your nails, be sure to pick up a bottle of Seche Vite. You can find it at Sally Beauty Supply and online at Amazon. It's only about $5.99 so it won't break the bank, and it's well worth every penny!

Beauty twip via @dollfacebyjules on Twitter: Use an old eyeliner brush & nail polish remover to clean up nails after you paint them vs a Q-tip. Works like a charm!
